Sourcing Concept
After the sourcing assessment, we support our clients in the development of a sourcing concept based on reliable data. Either outsourcing or insourcing (e.g. shared service centre) may be appropriate. A combination of insourcing and partial outsourcing is quite usual.
Insourcing means the implementation of a dedicated business unit for IT operations which will offer its services to internal clients the same way an outsourcing partner would do.
The development of a sourcing concept is adjusted according to the clients business and - if existing - IT strategy. It contains:
- Description and classification of the prospective scope of services
- Breakdown of the relevant indicators of the individual service components
- Elaboration of the concept of the relevant service components to be in- or outsourced
- Analysis of the pros and cons of a single or multiple sourcing strategy (services to be outsourced to one or multiple vendors)
- Development of a governance framework including processes for project control and service management (e.g. end-to-end monitoring)
In the case of an existing outsourcing partnership, the affirmation of the current approach is another possible outcome. Alternatively, the new sourcing concept can lead to backsourcing, insourcing or restructuring of the services to another or multiple vendors.
